About Totsum

Totsum is the short name of Totsum Data Explorer, a desktop app, and the name of the Belgian company that makes it.

The app

Totsum Data Explorer is a desktop app for a first look at your CSV, Excel, JSON and Parquet files: you ask questions in plain language, an AI that runs locally on your machine answers with previews, and a follow-up report hands your shortlist to an expert for validation. Can work on a computer with no network connection; no account, no sync, no telemetry, no update check. One-time license, for Windows and macOS.

Totsum Data Explorer is in a private beta. A beta is the step before an app goes on sale. A small group of early users runs it first, free of charge, and the feedback they give shapes the finished product. We call it private because you join by applying rather than by downloading. You can apply on the download page.

AI modelGemma 4 12B by Google DeepMind (Apache License 2.0), in the QAT GGUF conversion by Unsloth, run inside the app through llama.cpp. The installer downloads it once, about 7 GB.

Each result comes with the rows behind it and the query that produced it. A follow-up report carries the results you choose to your reviewer. The documentation describes each pane, tab and menu of the app.
